Week 6 out of class

This week we were asked to create wire frames for our website. For my website I wanted to have just one page with scrolling qualities. So in my wire frame they reflect this. I have created spaced that i am going to put photos of my process and then the final result. Then the scrolling feature will take them through the process. I also will write about what I'm doing next to the pictures. If its possible i would like to have the scrolling for the photos line up with the scrolling for the text so as they scroll down it will go hand in hand and will work together at the same time.

This week i worked on my publication design project. I had some trouble with it. I think that its to flat i would like to add texture to the back ground or make it look more dimensional. I had trouble trying to figure out what to include for a graphic. I decided to choice a plate knife and fork. I did this because it thought that it would play off of the 101 cause the for knife and plate look like they say 101 But i would also like to include some of the meals into the cover of the project. I was thinking maybe the diagonal lines could be created by the text instead of actual line. I also think that solid color with the plate does not work and needs to be changed. Its to much and to flat

Self Promo

For my self promo piece I am going to be relate it to the idea of table topics. Its this game that comes in a box and has all these random questions to start conversations. I thought this would work well as a self promo becasue it would be as if i am the converation starter. i will be making a series of cards with all the information like resume mini cover letter and fun facts and everything else. I will include my buisness card on the top of the box where the game title would be.

Self Promo

For my self promo piece I would like to create a screen cleaning sheet with designed by me with my contact information on it. I came up with this idea because i was thinking of something that would have use in your everyday life maybe not something that you always use but something you always need. I also believe that this is a good idea because for graphic designers they need to clean their computers phones glasses. It would be a fun creative way it get my name out there and it wouldn't be something they would throw away because it would be reusable. This picture is an example of the types of cloths that I am looking for to design

Week 4

Nancy and I meet and we went over my projects. We decided on seven different projects. The first one being a newsletter and creating it into a interactive piece. The second and third projects i am going to redesign and work with the info graphics that I created the one about hair and the other about mexican food The mexican food info graphic needs more information then after they are done I am going to create motion graphic for them. for the 4th project I am going to create a magazine into a digital file. The fifth project I am going to create a publication design book jacket cover for simple meals  the sixth project is going to me a recreation of a website where I create the home page and 2 additional links for the page. I am not actually making the website I am designing what it is going to look like. For the 7th project I choice a self authorship project of cards and invitations. After meeting and discussing my plan I created a schedule to follow in order to try to keep up with everything.

For my final product i completely recreated my business card and cover letter and resume. I went with a theme and incorporated it with all of them.

Week 3

In class we talked about details of our resumes and we were required to have our resumes finished by the end of class. Example of how this information should be included on our resume

For my final resume that i turned in it looked like this I included soft skills at the bottom under neither programs. I choice to use bold colors cause i wanted it make it pop. We were also required to define our self authorship project I choice to design cards and invitations for my project. I was thinking about working with recycled material i thought that this would be fun and creative to use something that is considered trash and give it a new purpose.

week 2

We worked on our resumes in class it was a short class because we has a quest speaker in the morning. The speaker Joshua Buckwalter is a creative director and the president of central Pa AIGA He talked a lot about user experience not being the same as user interface. User experience consist of data analysis field research copy writing Interface design prototyping  taxonomy. User interface is more about interface design and prototyping. He was trying to show the importance of user experience and   and how it has to do with so many more things than interface does. I really enjoyed listening to Josh talk because when we normally have guest speakers they focus a lot on what they did and not about the process and I loved hearing about this.
I was inspired by Josh and the long process and the example he gave about when he went to the company with his group. Josh also came up with a bible including project brief commandments definitions process concept user stories. At the end of joshes talk he said that learn how to learn and be curious. This will take you far and will lead you to better opportunities. He talked about how this industry is always changing and how he learns something new every day at his job. Lastly he said his career got better when he started hanging out with the design community and getting involved in AIGA was one of his best moves. I think his presentation was great and I felt like I took a lot from his talk I will definitely get more involved.

After josh we continues to work on our resumes I has this idea of using a very pastel color pallet with simple shapes to create a texture. Which i had worked on the previous class but after this idea didn't seem to work i choice another concept I wanted it to be simple but i was having trouble with how to go about this. For my first draft this is what i come up with.

Week 1

Week one in class we researched potential jobs. Adam and I worked together on this and looked up jobs that we found interesting. The assignment was to look deeper into what they were looking for we has a sheet that we were to check off all the things that the employer was looking for. this assignment was very interesting to me because it opened my eyes to looking at job announcements closer. the specific details of what the job will entitle and also what the experience that they expect you to have before you try to get the job. There were some jobs that barely gave any information which i found to be interesting cause how would they even get people to apply to these jobs if they did not have enough of the details. Others jobs scared me because they had so much information and they were requiring so much experience most of the jobs like this were art directors which makes more sense to me but still intimidating.
